Wise Woman from Tekoa

“All of us must die eventually. Our lives are like water spilled out on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again. But God does not just sweep life away; instead, he devises ways to bring us back when we have been separated from him.” – 2 Samuel 14:14 [NLT]

This verse is found in the middle of a passage which refers to Joab sending a woman from Tekoa to David to get him to allow his son Absalom to return to Jerusalem. The woman may have been deceptive following Joab’s plan; however, there is truth to this verse. God doesn’t “sweep life away.” He is relentless in trying to bring us back to Him.

You may be asking yourself if you fall on the list. Does God care so much about me, that he has devised a way to bring me back to Him? Yes. He loves you that much. No matter what you have done. No matter where you are at in life. God desires to be in a relationship with you. He loves you. Chances are, if you are not seeing the relentless pursuit, if you are not feeling His love, you’re not looking in the right direction. His hand is always reaching out. He created you to be in a relationship with Him. The hand is always reaching out, always trying to bring you back.
