Weigh Every Word

I never want people to believe everything I say or anything I say without checking it out first. When I write, I always like to include Scripture. I want you to go to you Bible and read it. I want you to seek the Holy Spirit and understand it. I do not want people to take whatever I say as truth without seeking it out on their own.

I worry about those who are naïve and take everyone at their word. The world is full of liars. The world is full of people who might misunderstand, misinterpret, or misuse Scripture. We are humans. We make mistakes. Every sermon I hear, I have my Bible open. I’m looking at the verses. I am sifting through passages. There are even times when I go home and look things over again. I might even crack open multiple translations and pull out a commentary.

Whether you are studying your Bible or doing something else, do not walk through life as a simpleton. Do not believe everything. Weigh ever word. Look into things for yourself. There are resources at your fingertips. I have learned so much in life from seeking out the Truth rather than believe the lies. Consider your steps. Give them thought.

“The gullible believe anything they’re told;
the prudent sift and weigh every word.”

-Proverbs 14:15 [MSG]
