When I was younger I knew that money was not pouring from the sky so when it was time to ask for something for my birthday, I always tried to consider something that was a reasonable price. I did not want to ask for something that cost a lot because I knew it was not affordable.
With God, things are very different. You can ask for anything. I am not saying this so that you start asking God for a billion dollars instead of a million dollars. I truly hope that money is not your big request of God. What I’m trying to say is sometimes we continue to pray for small things for God to do in our lives, and we forget that He is a big God.
Did you know that God wants to do something mighty in your life? He wants you to ask for anything. He wants you to be extravagant. “Ask for the moon” He tells Ahaz, and He wants us to think big too. He is a big God. Don’t spend your life praying small prayers when God has greater things waiting. He made you for greater things—pray like you believe it! Whatever vision He lays on your heart, pray about it. Don’t consider how big it is; instead remind yourself of how big He is and watch Him amaze you with His greatness.
“God spoke again to Ahaz. This time he said, ‘Ask for a sign from your God. Ask anything. Be extravagant. Ask for the moon!’”
