Dead End or God Delight

“A whole, healed, put-together life right now, with more and more of life on the way.” It is possible. There’s no 12 step program, no self improvement book, no quick fix. Today’s passage speaks of the “delight of listening to God telling you.” There’s always a choice. God’s delight or a dead end.

I have come upon many dead ends in my life. Thankfully when I approach, I am able to turn the car around and go in the other direction. When it comes to life, if you are approaching the dead end, there’s still a chance to turn around (repent) until your earthly, temporal life is over. But when that small period is finished, the dead end is just that—a dead end.

I cannot save you. I cannot make you give your life to Christ. I can tell you that Jesus Christ offers a “whole, healed, put-together life.” I can tell you that “God’s gift is real life, eternal life.” I am so grateful for the delight of listening to God. I am thankful that He has given us the opportunity despite us spending much time listening to sin. Jesus loves you and He has promised you something only He can deliver. I chose Jesus.

“As long as you did what you felt like doing, ignoring God, you didn’t have to bother with right thinking or right living, or right anything for that matter. But do you call that a free life? What did you get out of it? Nothing you’re proud of now. Where did it get you? A dead end. But now that you’ve found you don’t have to listen to sin tell you what to do, and have discovered the delight of listening to God telling you, what a surprise! A whole, healed, put-together life right now, with more and more of life on the way! Work hard for sin your whole life and your pension is death. But God’s gift is real life, eternal life, delivered by Jesus, our Master.” – Romans 6:20-23 [MSG]
