The Last Adam Outline

10-8-17 Down the Road: Sin from the Beginning – The Last Adam

Sin from the Beginning

Romans 5:12– When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.

Free Choice – Allure of Satan – Sin

Sin of Unbelief – Chose to believe Satan rather than God

Sin of Pride – Even after sinned, would not acknowledge fault – blamed Eve & God (who gave him the woman) – Genesis 3:12 is TAYLOR SWIFT – “LOOK WHAT U MADE ME DO”

Genesis 6:5– The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. [NOAH AND THE FLOOD]

Sin caused some of our likeness of God to be lost. We still bear the image of God, but we are faulty image bearers. We lost the moral image likeness – the holiness & righteousness. We still share the natural image likeness (intellect, feeling, will).

As a result… INHERITED DEPRAVITY

Moral condition we are all born into

Spiritual death passed onto every child of Adam

Each of us have a deep corruption of nature.

Romans 5:15– But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.

By the merits of Christ, all men are cleared from the guilt of Adam’s actual sin. All the imputed guilt of the original sin is removed in Christ for everyone.

No one has the guilt of Adam hanging over head – it is removed in Christ.

Romans 5:17– For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.

Man has sufficient grace so that he can choose to go with God.

Romans 5:18 – Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people.

Though man is born into world inheriting the guilt of Adam and under the curse of sin, yet God’s grace is extended to him. This removes the guilt of Adam’s sin and extends the power to lift him to a place of redemption and new life!

“In Christ, we gain more than in Adam we lost.” – John Wesley

THE LAST ADAM

1 Corinthians 15:45-52– The Scriptures tell us, “The first man, Adam, became a living person.” But the last Adam–that is, Christ–is a life-giving Spirit. What comes first is the natural body, then the spiritual body comes later. Adam, the first man, was made from the dust of the earth, while Christ, the second man, came from heaven. Earthly people are like the earthly man, and heavenly people are like the heavenly man. Just as we are now like the earthly man, we will someday be like the heavenly man. What I am saying, dear brothers and sisters, is that our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever. But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed.
