This verse for today is beautiful. We tend to focus on not lacking one thing that we need. It is an awesome promise, but it is important to remember the first half of the sentence— “Those who walk along His paths with integrity” — those people will never lack what they need. Why? Because our God is a great provider, and when you walk with Him, when you are a person of integrity with eyes fixed on Him, you truly will have all you need. Not all you want, all you need. That’s the big difference.
Too many people think of God as a magic genie who will give and give you some more. However, a loving Father wants only for your good, so there are some wants you aren’t going to get. As you walk with Him, you begin to desire what He desires for you. You begin to know Him more and to know yourself more. Then you find that you are not lacking— that He does indeed provide it all!
This verse speaks of the generosity of God. It is true— God is so generous. He is a great giver. This generosity of gifts include grace and glory. To experience the glory of God, to even be in His presence— that right there is grace. Grace and glory go hand-in-hand. If you pour out grace toward another, you will see the glory of God. If you receive grace from God or from another person, you see the glory of God. It is true— “the Lord God is brighter than the brilliance of a sunrise”, and you and I are blessed with this awesome opportunity to receive His grace and to experience His glory. As you grow in Him, you will find that above all that He provides, that it is His gifts of grace and glory that shine so bright.
