Never Lack

In yesterday’s devotion, we spoke about the gifts of grace and glory that God is so generous to bless us with in life. Today, we look deeper at what it means to never lack. When we are small, we often are taught to pray to God for things, and also to thank God for things. I remember at a small age thinking that if you asked God for something, that it was as good as received. The Bible even says, “Ask and it will be given” (see Matthew 7:7). Yet do you get everything you ask for? Have you always seen something you wanted and you were able to just pull out the cash to buy it? Have you always received everything you prayed for to happen? When you prayed for healing for a loved one, did it always happen?

The answer for you is likely no. You do not always have your prayers answered in the way you desire. Or as you might say— your prayers didn’t come true. Remember, yesterday I mentioned how we treat God like a genie. We want to rub a lamp and get our wishes. We see something, we want it. God, please let me have it. That’s what we want too often. We want a genie. Yet a genie didn’t create the earth. A genie doesn’t have our best interests at heart. If you take a good honest look at your life— many of the items you want so badly are not going to be the very best for you. Some items will even destroy you. The prayers that we think go unanswered for us, are answered in deeper ways we cannot understand. We can trust that our prayers are always answered, that God always gives good gifts, and that we do not see the big picture.

Instead of a genie, we have God Almighty. Yes, He has the power to create from nothing. He has the wisdom to know all things. He has the plans that will not be thwarted. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. The comfort we can have is in knowing that no matter what — let us read that again — NO MATTER WHAT — you will not lack one thing. Everything you need to do all He has called you to accomplish in life is yours (see Philippians 4:19). He pours out His love, His grace, His mercy. We are blessed. So so blessed. We will never lack.

Today, if you feel like you are missing something in life, lean into God. Speak to Him about this “lack” in life. Let Him wrap Himself around you. May you feel Him today.

“For the Lord God is brighter than the brilliance of a sunrise! Wrapping himself around me like a shield, he is so generous with his gifts of grace and glory. Those who walk along his paths with integrity will never lack one thing they need, for he provides it all!” – Psalm 84:11 [TPT]
