Miracle Maker

Read Psalm 86. Today’s verse speaks about God’s miracles. The Message translation says, “There’s no one quite like You among the gods, O Lord, and nothing to compare with Your works. All the nations You made are on their way, ready to give honor to You, O Lord, ready to put Your beauty on display, parading Your greatness, And the great things You do— God, You’re the one, there’s no one but You!” (Psalm 86:8-10 MSG).

The Bible says, “No deeds can compare” and “none can do what (God does)” (Psalm 86:8 NIV, NLT). No one can do what God does. Nothing anyone else does will compare to what God does.

We see many miracles in the  Bible. In the Old Testament, we read about the waters from the rock, as well as the parting of the Red Sea and the Jordan River (Numbers 20, Exodus 14, Joshua 3). We read about the multiplication of the widow’s oil and later the raising of the son (2 Kings 4).  In the New Testament, we read in Mark 4 about the storm being stilled. In Mark 6, we read about the feeding of 5,000 people. In Luke 5, we read about the paralytic man who was lowered from the roof and healed. In Luke 7, we read about the raising of the widow’s son. There are certainly many more miracles that we find in the Old and New Testaments.

The miracles do not end there; however, as still today there are miracles. We often have our eyes closed to how God is moving around us because we are consumed with busyness, with work, with family, with life in the world. We take blessings and miracles for granted. Sometimes we are too focused on a special way we believe God will act or respond to our prayer. We box God in and we miss the miracle because we are trying to create the miracle. We are thinking up the way the miracle should happen, and missing the entire wonder God is preparing. We are rewriting another Hallmark movie happy ending while God is doing something new. We are seeing things with our limited human eyes, and we miss the big picture. If we could pull back and see the big picture, we will ALWAYS see that nothing compares to God and His works— that the best is always to see God’s beauty on display.

Remember friend, God is still doing miracles today. He is alive and active. Dream bigger. Pray bolder. Do not settle for less, when God is ready to show you more. He is a Miracle Maker! Amen!
