How much of life is spent searching for satisfaction…for pleasure…contentment…happiness? The Bible tells us to “seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need” (Matthew 6:33 NLT). Everything you need! We want the results; the struggle is seeking God first.“ That is easier said than done.
When you wake up in the morning, what do you do first? When you receive your pay check, where does the money go first? When you have a day off, what do you enjoy first? When you have a decision, Who do you seek out first? These are good questions to consider each day. Apart from the obedience of God’s command to seek the Kingdom of God above all else, the Bible reminds us that the obedience of seeking God first and the fruit of having a relationship with God, is satisfaction. Satisfaction!
The Bible says, “Let the sunrise of Your love end our dark night. Break through our clouded dawn again! Only You can satisfy our hearts, filling us with songs of joy to the end of our days” (Psalm 90:14 TPT). We spend so much time searching for satisfaction but the Bible is clear— Only God satisfies. This satisfaction comes from seeking Him first and continuing to live in relationship with Him.
God fills us with songs of joy to the end of our days — the satisfaction is not for a moment, but for a lifetime. Today, thank God for His provision, for His invitation to relationship, for His goodness. Take time to worship Him, to pour out the songs of joy that He put within you. “O satisfy us in the morning with Your lovingkindness, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days” (Psalm 90:14 NASB). Amen!
