Yesterday we looked at how our faith is established by the power of the Holy Spirit — by listening to Him as He reveals deep and hidden truths, convicts our hearts, and opens our eyes to see anew. We noted that people without the Spirit may read some truths in the Bible; however, without the Spirit there is no deeper revelation. The spiritual truths are only revealed through the Holy Spirit.
Today, let us continue to contemplate what it means to be in step with the Spirt of God. He alone knows what goes on in your heart. He alone knows the real you — the you that even you do not know. The Holy Spirit also helps us to know the real God — God’s thoughts and secrets. This is true relationship. God knowing you and you knowing God. Remember the intimate moments in the Bible. Some translations will read that someone knew someone. That intimacy, that knowing relationship, is a sacred bond. So it is with you and God. Intimacy, deeper connection, is in the know knowing.
Do you want to know know God more? Do you want more intimacy, more closeness with God? Do you want the relationship God intended? Do you want to know yourself more? Do you want to know your purpose for life, your strengths and weaknesses, etc.? All of this can be revealed to you through the Holy Spirit. Now be careful. It’s not a snap your fingers, place an order, and the Spirit will hand you a report for you to browse. The full understanding comes through doing life with God. Little truths are revealed each day. We see bits of goodness, bits of grace, bits of love. As we take the small bites daily, we learn more about ourselves and more about God. We mature. We grow in Him. Each step closer to Him is a step I want to take!
“But God now unveils these profound realities to us by the Spirit.Yes, he has revealed to us his inmost heart and deepest mysteries through the Holy Spirit, who constantly explores all things. After all, who can really see into a person’s heart and know his hidden impulses except for that person’s spirit? So it is with God. His thoughts and secrets are only fully understood by his Spirit, the Spirit of God. Someone living on an entirely human level rejects the revelations of God’s Spirit, for they make no sense to him. He can’t understand the revelations of the Spirit because they are only discovered by the illumination of the Spirit.” – 1 Corinthians 2:10-11, 14 [TPT]
Thank You God for your full understanding. Thank You for desiring intimacy with me. Help me to go deeper with You. Help me to keep pressing forward as You continue to reveal Yourself to me, and as You continue to help me see myself with open eyes. Thank You for the illumination of the Spirit. In Jesus’ Name.
